Swimming Highlight: Baby Rec Blog

Back in the spring of this year, a new indoor swimming pool opened up in our area. I had been taking my boys to swim classes at another location but was super excited when I heard about Waterworks Aquatics. I had been on the prowl for a new swim facility so this new place could not have opened at a better time.

When I first walked into the San Jose facility of Waterworks Aquatics, I was wowed. The site has 2 heated indoor pools, one of which is a lap pool and another which is an open pool. At one end of the open pool there is a roped off section for kids to play before or after a lesson. The facility also has a very clean changing room with clean showers and even hair dryers. Everything about the place is impressive.

Waterworks perks:
  • Play time before or after a lesson (10-15 minutes).
  • A piece of licorice for each child after every lesson.
  • Toy (Turbos) for a great swim lesson.
  • Highly trained and experienced swim teachers with very little turn around.

The ease of swim lesson scheduling is what makes Waterworks Aquatics so desireable. The way it works is you buy a swim package with a designated number of Private or Semi-Private swim lessons (Semi-Private lessons are 2 people). Each lesson is 20 minutes and you can either set a recurring scheduled time for your lesson or you can vary up your swim schedule on a weekly basis if need be. Lessons can be scheduled up to 2 weeks in advance if you are not on a recurring schedule. Although, if you need to, you can cancel a lesson up to 2 hours prior to your lesson with your only penalty being that you have to do a make-up, you do not get a refund. You can schedule your lesson with any instructor you want so try them all out before you settle on one if you want. Finally, lessons can be scheduled, online (the process is a little involved but doable nononetheless) via phone or in person. I just love that Waterworks does not work on set scheduling so if you need to miss a few weeks of lessons, you just don't schedule and it is not a problem. The ease of it all is what makes the place so desirable

My family is a huge fan of Waterworks Aquatics. My boy's swimming has improved significantly since joining (they love their instructor Mitchell). I loved the place so much, that I started my daughter in lessons this summer.

If you live in or around San Jose and are looking to start your child in swim lessons or looking for a year round indoor facility, I highly recommend Waterworks Aquatics. Water safety is crucial so why not get started before next summer creeps up on us faster than we realize.

Waterworks Aquatics also has locations all over Southern California, the only Northern California facility in San Jose and a Denver location opening in February 2015.
