New San Jose Instructors


Waterworks Aquatics would like to welcome our new San Jose instructors!

Lillian, Diana, Ali, Mary, Eddie & Heran!

To find out more about their swimming background and experience working with children, please read below:

Lillian

Lillian began swimming at the age of eight and has loved swimming ever since. She swam competitively for three years in high school and competed in her Junior Varsity Championships and placed 2nd place for her Backstroke. Lillian has worked with children of all ages and gained most of her experience volunteering at her local elementary school as well as her local high school. She would help the student’s with their classwork and tutor them in different subjects. Her favorite parts of teaching her student’s being able to be back in the water and being able to share one of the things she is most passionate about with all her new students. Lillian is currently attending De Anza College where she is studying Social and Behavioral Science. Some of her hobbies include swimming and volunteering at her local elementary school.

Diana

Diana began swimming at the age of six and one of her favorite strokes is Freestyle. She worked with children of all ages and gained most of her experience working as a camp counselor at VIA West and through babysitting. Her favorite part of teaching swimming lessons is being able to have an impact in a young child’s life and sharing a skill with them that they can use throughout their whole life. Diana is currently attending De Anza College where she is studying Biology. Some of her hobbies include Reading, hiking and running.

Ali

SEASONAL

Ali began swimming at the age of seven and her favorite stroke is Freestyle. She has worked with children of all ages and gained most of her experience working as a private party Lifeguard and through babysitting. Her favorite part about teaching swimming lessons is being able to teach her students new things. Ali is currently attending De Anza College where she is studying Sociology. Some of her hobbies include spending time with her family, friends and her dog.

Bilingual: Spanish

Mary

Mary has been swimming since the young of three. She swam competitively in high school and one of her favorite strokes was Backstroke. She has been working with children of all ages ever since she started working as a swim instructor. She has also gained much experience working with children helping at her local After School Programs and Sunday school. Her favorite part of teaching her students is being able to see the growth and development of each individual student. Mary is currently studying at De Anza College where she is studying Child Development. Some of Mary’s hobbies include hiking, swimming and bikram yoga.

Eddie

Eddie learned how to swim at the age of five when he himself started taking swimming lessons. One of his favorite strokes would be Freestyle. He has gained much of his experience working with children through his church, where he had to look over the children and set up different activities and games for them. His favorite thing about teaching his students is being able to make a connection with each individual child and parent and show them how much more there is to learn about swimming. Eddie is currently attending San Jose City College where he is studying Communications. A fun fact about Eddie is he really enjoys playing musical instruments and producing music.

Heran

Heran learned how to swim at the age of five and one of her favorite strokes is Breaststroke. She has gained much of her experience working with children working as a Tutor and babysitting. Her favorite part of teaching her students is being able to interact with the student’s one on one in such a casual learning environment. Heran is currently attending San Jose Community College where she is studying Pre-Nursing. Some of Heran’s hobbies include knitting sweaters, embroidering and playing her bass guitar.
