Waterworks Aquatics is excited to partner with the Orange County Fire Authority in presenting Splashing into Summer Safety Day 2010. On Tuesday, June 15thth from 10:00am – 12:00pm the Orange County Fire Authority along with other community health and safety organizations will be on site at Waterworks helping to promote water safety in Southern Orange County. This program will coincide with a furlough day on the Irvine Unified School District’s calendar so we’re excited to offer this fun and educational opportunity to families looking to make the most of their children’s time off.
This eventful day will include a live demonstration in our outdoor pool involving both lifeguards and paramedics performing save and rescue drills. Also, the OCFA Swift Water Rescue Team will be present with their specialized rescue equipment which they utilize when conducting rescues. Not only are we planning to provide a variety of activities and games for all ages to enjoy, but also in attendance will be “Sparky the Dog” and “Stewie the Water Safety Duck”. The Orange County Fire Authority will be giving tours of an actual Fire Engine and children will have the chance to learn what it takes to become a firefighter. Participants will be given the opportunity to earn stickers, helmets, re-usable beach bags, crayons, and beach balls. Parents will learn the steps necessary to secure their homes and prepare their children for a lifetime of aquatic safety.
At Waterworks we take year round water safety very seriously; playing in and around the water can be very enjoyable but it is important to know how to do so in a safe and effective manner. We would like to encourage all of our families to come out and participate in this event to learn more about how they can keep their friends and relatives safe as we approach the summer season.
